The enrichment schedule for the winter/spring semester is in the works! Enrichments will run Tuesday, January 22nd through Friday, May 10th 2019. Registration is now open for all enrichments, with the exception of Girls on the Run which will start later in the spring. Be sure to check out the new Friday addition, League of Wayfinders.

Fourth and fifth graders should be working through the planning stages for their science fair experiment. A science fair project is required of ALL fourth and fifth graders. Third grade students will complete an experiment with all parts of the scientific process in class. They may choose to complete an optional independent project as well. First and second graders may also complete an optional, independent project if they wish.

Join us for the annual Polaris shopping event at The Bookies! The Bookies is an amazing independent bookstore that focuses primarily on children’s books, but also has a good selection of adult bestsellers as well as games, toys, puzzles, gifts, crafts, and more.
Bring the family and get a jump on your holiday gift buying. Shop any time during the week and mention Polaris, and a portion of all sales will be donated to the Polaris library. On Wednesday 11/28, join Ms. Axt and the Polaris community for a special shopping night with snacks and extended store hours. 4315 East Mississippi Avenue (off of Colorado Blvd. and Mississippi). For a limited time only, place your order for the 2018-19 student-designed T-shirt! According to Polaris tradition this year’s 5th graders designed the graphics, and proceeds will benefit the Polaris art program. Shirt color is heather gray. This is your only chance to get one of these shirts. Order online through the My School Anywhere store, or turn in an order form (with payment) to the school office by 4:00 pm on Friday, November 30th. Join your student for the annual Polaris Thanksgiving Lunch on Thursday, November 15! The cafeteria staff will serve a special meal of turkey and fixings to students and guests with tickets. Student cost is the standard lunch cost ($2.25 or qualifying reduced price). Tickets for adults are $5 each, and non-Polaris student children are $3 each. Tickets are limited and must be pre-purchased. Ticket orders are due by Friday, November 9th. Download the ticket order form here.
Meal times for each grade are as follows:
- 1st Grade: Eat 11:15-11:45, Recess until 12:10
- 2nd Grade: Eat 11:30-12:00, Recess until 12:20
- 4th Grade: Eat 11:45-12:15, Recess until 12:30
- 3rd Grade: Eat 12:00-12:30, Recess until 12:45
- 5th Grade: Eat 12:15-12:45, Recess until 1:00
We also need volunteers to help out with this event! Click here to sign up for an easy 1/2 hour shift before or after your child’s meal time.
We will celebrate Halloween at Polaris with a parade and classroom parties on Wednesday, October 31st. Please do not dress your children in their costumes in the morning – they will change into them prior to the parade. The parade will begin at 2:15 pm and will be followed by classroom parties. Parents are welcome to attend the parade and parties.
- All costumes should be “G-Rated”.
- Please apply fake blood to costumes ahead of time and ensure that it does not drip.
- Absolutely no weapons (real or fake)!
- We welcome costumed parents and family, but please no adult masks.
- Please remember we have little ones, so nothing too scary!

Frozen custard and steak burgers anyone? End your fall break by meeting your friends and family at Freddy’s in Northfield Stapleton from 4-8 on Tuesday, October 23. Dine in or just pick up a convenient meal to go. Be sure to mention the Polaris fundraiser and 15% of sales will be donated to our school! This is a fun and easy way to support our school.
A huge thanks goes out to the entire Polaris community for another successful Jogathon! Donations are still being tallied, but are at $31,000 and counting. The online donation link will remain open through this Friday, October 12th for any final contributions.

There will be a free family event at Benedict Park this Saturday, September 8th, from 11:00 am -2:00 pm. Our neighbors at 100 Park Ave. West have organized the event, and encourage Polaris families, faculty, and friends to attend! There will be BBQ food, kid activities, music and representation by community police officers and local businesses. See you there!
