Before and after school enrichments provide opportunities for learning and growth that enhance and extend what students learn during the regular school day. Polaris offers a wide variety of enrichments to complement our students’ diverse interests.
This year, enrichment coordination and registration has transitioned to the DPS Department of Extended Learning and Community Schools. A few returning programs have separate registration: Beginning and Advanced Band, Girls on the Run, and Real Numbers Math. Scroll down for more information on these programs.

Beginning and Advanced Band
Our band program is an opportunity for students in grades 3-5 to begin or continue playing a band instrument. There are two different performance groups to accommodate students’ playing abilities. Beginning band is for students who have never played an instrument before. This group will start learning how to play and perform together. Students do not need any prior experience reading music or playing an instrument to join. Advanced band is for students who have played their instrument for at least one year. Students in this group will begin working together on band literature and performance techniques.
2019-2020 Schedule
Beginning Band – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 pm in the auditorium
Advanced Band – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45-8:30 am in the auditorium
Tuition – full and partial scholarships available!
Advanced Band – $250/year
Beginning Band -$250/year or $140 per semester

Real Numbers Math
This year-long enrichment provides opportunities for children to engage in creative problem solving activities while developing a child’s ability to reason, to be logical, to be resourceful, and occasionally to be ingenious. Students practice math problem solving weekly in a team environment in preparation for math competitions. Students will participate in 5 tests given monthly November-March. Tuition includes t-shirt, mid-year and end-of-year parties, and awards. Open to 4th and 5th grades. Meets Friday mornings 7:45-8:30 in the Staff Lounge. For more information, including session dates and tuition, contact Peggy Batchelor at mebatchelor@hotmail.com.
