Hello! I am thrilled to be a part of the 3rd grade team at Polaris. I have been teaching for six years in DPS and a few years outside of DPS. I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession and doing creative work, so teaching is the perfect fit. I grew up moving all over, even living in England for some of my elementary school experience. My family eventually settled outside of Houston, Texas. I went to college in Fort Worth, TX and received my degree from TCU, GO FROGS. I worked one year in Texas in second grade, and then I made the move to Denver. I quickly joined the DPS team. It is a dream to get to work at Polaris. I chose to be a teacher for many reasons. I love helping others, being creative, laughing, and helping young ones grow academically and socially. Teaching rigorous lessons and seeing growth in academics is so important, but I find it equally important to teach good character and help children learn life skills leading them to be strong, kind and successful individuals. When I am not teaching, I enjoying going to the mountains, hanging with my puppy Chuck, working out in various ways, spending time with friends and family, dancing, reading, and of course traveling. Here’s to a great year!

My name is Alysha Policicchio and I have taught 3rd grade math at Polaris for three years now. Before coming to this school, I was a math interventionist at DCIS at Fairmont. I am originally from Chicago and I received my bachelors degree in teaching at the University of Kentucky. I moved out to Colorado a few years ago for my first teaching job, and I love it here! In my free time, I love to read, hike, and try new foods. I also love gymnastics and hockey, and I am a big Chicago sports fan

My name is Talia Cheron, and this is my second year at Polaris! I will be teaching 3rd grade Literacy. I am originally from Connecticut, but went to college at College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina to escape the awful Connecticut winters! I went to school for Elementary Education. I then moved to Gainesville, Florida for graduate school at University of Florida, where I received my Masters degree in Reading Education. I ended up staying in Gainesville for 6 years, and taught 3rd grade! I wanted a change (and to escape the humidity!), and decided to move to Denver last summer knowing no one! It was the next bravest thing I had done after skydiving! In my spare time I enjoy exercising (I work out at Orange Theory!), traveling, reading, skiing, hiking, and watching my Florida Gators play! I am so excited to be back at Polaris and can’t wait for a great year!

Hello Polaris! I’m thrilled to be working with our stellar 3rd graders this year. Science has been and always will be a lifelong love of mine, and I’ve taught it in the tidepools of Cape Cod, the sagebrush of California, and the mountains of Colorado. My students and I have traveled through worlds of quantum physics, tropical cloudforest ecology and cold water cetacean studies in our quest for scientific understandings, and I hope to bring new and exciting explorations to Polaris! My background as a gifted educator spans 19 years and 3 states, public and private schools in grades K-college. My elderly trusty sidekick Sir Scruffikins and I are always scouring our world for new scientific adventures and ways of bringing science into the classroom. Adventure on!
