How to Enroll

Welcome! We are glad that you are considering sending your child to Polaris!

If you want a caring and stimulating school with great teachers and staff where your gifted child will learn, make friends, and grow, then this is the place for you!

First Step

Polaris is a Gifted Magnet elementary school within DPS. Students who attend Polaris must first be pre-qualified by the DPS Gifted and Talented Department. After that, families must use the Denver Public Schools yearly Choice and Enrollment program.

This year we are offering in-person information sessions and tours. Sessions will be offered on the following dates at 9:30 am. There is no sign-up required to attend!

Applicant Prioritization

Qualified applicants for grades 1-5 are prioritized in the following way:

Note: Only students identified by the District as eligible for the Highly Gifted and Talented program will be considered.

  1. Students who are currently attending the school
  2. District resident students who attend a DPS school that is closing
  3. Students who reside in the feeder zone with a sibling admitted at the school
  4. District residents with a sibling admitted at the school
  5. Children of full-time employees of the school
  6. Students who reside in Denver, specifically with a high concentration of students eligible for free and reduced price lunch
  7. Students who reside in the feeder zone
  8. All other District resident students
  9. Non-District resident students who have a sibling admitted at the school
  10. All other non-District resident students
